The Upper Morgado Shelter/Upper Morgado Cave is just one of several Meander karst cavities that were used and reused for funerary purposes during the Holocene.

The 1988 intervention did not provide sufficient material culture to financially justify the continuity of the work; however, after denunciation of cavity vandalization, a salvage intervention was carried out in 2012, which provided around 1,500 human bone pieces (three-dimensionally coordinated) and lithic, ceramic, adornment and socio-technical artifacts that forced us to rethink the archaeological intervention strategy.

Fieldwork continued in 2013 and was interrupted in 2014 for professional reasons and resumed in 2015. In 2016 begins the PIPA Meandro_CVR ending in 2019.
